Cindy Wright is an artist born in Herentals, Belgium, on November 29, 1972. She obtained a Master's degree in Visual Arts (painting) from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts (Antwerp) in 1996 and was a laureate of the Antwerp Higher Institute of Fine Arts in 2006. She currently lives and works in Antwerp.
Cindy Wright is a contemporary artist who excels in meticulous realism. Her work is characterized by ultra-detailed paintings of everyday objects such as fruit, animals and wilted flowers. Through her technique, Cindy Wright captures the fragility and ephemeral beauty of nature, creating metaphors about mortality and the passage of time, like modern-day vanitas. Her approach invites deep contemplation, revealing symbolic meanings behind seemingly banal objects. Cindy Wright's art questions the human condition and our perception of reality.
"In direct line with the Vanitas tradition, the artist plays with balance and skilful counterpoints, both in content and form, to deliver a number of substantial messages: the vacuity of existence, the pre-eminence of the spiritual over the material, the inexorability of the passage of time..."
