- Lives and works in Brussels, Belgium
At first glance, Pascal Bernier's works seem to go in all directions, almost incoherently, according to the artist's frenetic desires. All in all, it's a delight, not to say jubilant, like a Sunday visit to a good museum of folk arts and traditions: naturalized animals - elephants, deer, tigers or wild boar - are bandaged after unfortunate hunting accidents; trophies of deer in make-up and wigs adorn the walls; mygales weave their web on Bruges lace; squadrons of butterflies, pennants on their wings, compete with battalions of beetles with decorated elytra for the honors of the entomological collection; a giant teddy bear revisits the eternal philosophical question of nature and culture with a naturalized polar bear.
