Sommelette Charles-Henry
- 1984 -
« Charles‐Henry Sommelette is a young painter (1984) from the Ardennes
(Barvaux), who considers with reason that his most powerful sources are in his
surrounding world. Little paintings (oil) on canvas or huge charcoal drawings are
revealing the urban wounds of the surrounding nature. They are all occupied by a
"Lynchian rumble" which makes his work flourishing a transcendence. The banality
of the common world is dressed up by a holy sens which brings us back to a
primitive pantheism. His charcoal work, over the evolution of his skills, proves that
this is more "painting" than "drawing" and , in this way, completes his oil work »
