Leen Voet's pictorial practice oscillates between figuration and abstraction, often nourished by historical and autobiographical references. She explores the codes of representation by taking motifs from archives, educational illustrations or works by little-known artists, and reinterpreting them in dynamic, brightly-colored compositions. Her work plays on repetition and variation, deconstructing images to reveal their underlying structures. Through this approach, she questions notions of identity, memory and visual transmission.
