Robert Devriendt has developed a meticulous pictorial practice inspired by cinema and comics. He creates small, hyper-realistic paintings, often grouped into open narrative sequences, in which the viewer is invited to recompose the story. His works play on ambiguity, fragmentation and suspense, featuring unsettling details, enigmatic characters and objects charged with tension. In this way, he questions the way we perceive and interpret images, between illusion, voyeurism and fiction.
